PEMANFAATAN TEKS BERITA YANG MENGANDUNG FOTO UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN MENGANALISIS TEKS BERITA BERDASARKAN 5W + 1H PADA SISWA KELAS VIII C DI SMP NEGERI 4 KUBUTAMBAHAN

Penelitian ini merupakan classroom action research (Penelitian Tindakan Kelas) yang dilakukan dengan dua siklus. Tujuan penelitian ini, yaitu (1) mendeskripsikan peningkatan keterampilan menganalisis teks berita yang mengandung foto pada siswa kelas VIII C di SMP Negeri 4 Kubutambahan; (2) mendeskripsikan langkah-langkah pembelajaran menganalisis teks berita yang mengandung foto dengan unsur 5W+1H efektif dalam peningkatan kemampuan siswa dalam menganalisis teks berita; dan (3) mengetahui tanggapan siswa terhadap pembelajaran menganalisis teks berita yang mengandung foto dengan unsur 5W+1H. Subjek penelitian ini adalah guru dan siswa kelas VIII C di SMP Negeri 4 Kubutambahan. Penelitian ini menggunakan tiga metode pengumpulan data, yaitu (1) metode observasi, (2) tes, dan (3) angket. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa (1) penggunaan teks berita yang mengandung foto dengan unsur 5W+1H dapat meningkatkan kemampuan menganalisis teks berita. Hal tersebut dapat dilihat dari skor rata-rata klasikal siswa 75,93 (tergolong baik) pada siklus I dan meningkat menjadi 85,93 (tergolong sangat baik) pada siklus II. (2) Ada tujuh langkah proses pelaksanaan kegiatan menganalisis teks berita yang efektif menggunakanteks berita yang mengandung foto dengan unsur 5W+1H. (3) Mengacu pada hasil kuesioner, siswa memberikan respons positif terhadap penggunaan teks berita yang mengandung foto dalam menganalisis teks berita dengan teknik 5W +1 H.Kata Kunci : teks berita yang mengandung foto, teks berita, unsur 5W + 1H
This study was a classroom action research, which was conducted in two cycles. The objectives of the research were: (1) to know VIII C students improvement skill in analyzing the news text containing photos at SMP N 4 Kubutambahan; (2) to investigate learning stages to analyze the news text containing photos by using 5W + 1H technique in order to improve students’ skill on it; and (3) to figure out students’ perception toward learning activities in analyzing the news text containing photos by using 5W + 1H technique. This research was conducted at SMP N 4 Kubutambahan. The subjects of the study were the Indonesian teacher and the VIII C students at SMP N 4 Kubutambahan. This research used three data collection methods, namely, (1) observation, (2) test, and (3) questionnaire. The data was analyzed by using quantitative design. This study reveals that: (1) the use of news text containing photos and 5W + 1H technique are able to improve students’ ability in analyzing the news text. This can be seen from the students’ average score, 75,93 (good category) on the first cycle and goes to 85,93 (very good category) on the second cycle; (2) there are seven stages in analyzing the news text containing photos and 5W + 1H technique effectively; (3) considering on the questionnaire result, the students give positive perception toward learning activities in analyzing the news text containing photos by using 5W + 1H technique.
