THE EFFECT OF KNOW-WANT-LEARN WORKSHEET ASSISTED PROJECT-BASED LEARNING MODEL TOWARDS THE STUDENT'S PROBLEM SOLVING ABILITY

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis perbedaan kemampuan pemecahan masalah antara siswa yang belajar dengan menggunakan model Project-Based Learning berbantuan Know-Want-Learn worksheet (PjBLKWL), model Project-Based Learning (PjBL), dan model Direct Instruction. Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasi exsperiment dengan rancangan pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh kelas X SMA Negeri 4 Singaraja tahun pelajaran 2013/2014 berjumlah 241 orang. Sampel diambil dengan teknik simple random sampling. Data yang dikumpulkan dalam penelitian ini adalah kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa yang dikumpulkan dengan tes essay berjumlah 10 butir. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan statistik deskriptif dan ANAVA pada gain score ternormalisasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan kemampuan pemecahan masalah yang signifikan antara siswa yang belajar dengan menggunakan PjBLKWL, PjBL, dan DI (F=9,764; p<0,05). Pencapaian kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa yang belajar dengan model Project-Based Learning berbantuan KWL worksheet lebih baik dibandingkan dengan siswa yang belajar dengan model Project-Based Learning maupun model pembelajaran langsung (Direct Instruction).

This study aimed at analyzing the difference of problem solving ability among the students who learned by using Know-Want-Learn worksheet assisted Project-Based Learning model (PjBLKWL), the students who learned by using Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model, and the students who learned by using Direct Instruction learning model. This study was a quasi experiment research with pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design. The population of this study was 241 first grade students of SMA Negeri 4 Singaraja in academic year 2013/2014. Samples were taken by simple random sampling. Data were collected by student’s problem solving ability test with using 10 essay questions. Data were analyzed by using a descriptive statistic and ANAVA on gain score result. The result of this study shows that there is a significant difference of problem solving ability among the students who learned by using PjBLKWL, who learn by using PjBL, and who learn by using DI (F=9.764; p<0.05). Achievement of student's problem-solving ability who learned by using Know-Want-Learn worksheet assisted Project-Based Learning model is better than the students who learned by using Project-based learning model and Direct Instruction learning model.
