POTENSI DAN KENDALA PENDAFTARAN INDIKASI GEOGRAFIS KOTA SEMARANG
Abstract
This research is a continuation of previous research entitled Geographical Indications, Opportunities and Challenges. In this follow-up research, the team tried to explore the Process and Requirements for Registration of Geographical Indications and their benefits. The problems of this research are what are the potentials of the City of Semarang related to Geographical Indications, what are the requirements and process for registering Geographical Indications, and what are the obstacles for the City of Semarang in registering Geographical Indications and alternative solutions. This research uses a juridical-normative approach. With this method it is hoped that there will be a strong theoretical foundation to answer the above problems. The results of the study it can be concluded that the City of Semarang has several potentials that can be used as Geographical Indications, including Lumpia, Mangut, Durian, Bandeng Presto, Mie Kopyok, Tofu Dreadlocks, in the arts: Batik Semarangan. Whereas the Requirements and Procedures for Registration have been regulated in detail in accordance with Article 56-69 of Law Number 20 of 2016 concerning Marks and Geographical Indications and Articles 5 to 14 of Government Regulation Number 51 of 2007 concerning Geographical Indications, as well as Articles 3 to 17 Permenkumham No 12 of 2019 Concerning Geographical Indications. The obstacles are that people do not understand the importance of Geographical Indications, multiple interpretations of Article 56, a team that is not solid enough and the length of time for registration. The solution is massive socialization, readiness of the local government and the formation of a solid and complete team.
