Implementasi Model SaT-Mo Modifikasi untuk Pengembangan Penguasaan Kosakata Mahasiswa

Abstrak

Mahasiswa keguruan dituntut memiliki perbendaharaan kosakata untuk mendukung keterampilan mengajar. Observasi prasiklus menunjukkan mahasiswa memiliki kelemahan penguasaan kosakata sehingga keterampilan berbicara tidak maksimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan kosakata menggunakan Show and Tell (SaT-Mo) modifikasi, serta menganalisis pengaruhnya terhadap penguasaan kosakata mahasiswa. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Sampel penelitian 30 mahasiswa dan dilaksanakan tiga siklus. Pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi dengan bantuan lembar checklist. Analisis data dilakukan dengan membandingkan peningkatan tiap siklus dan pengujian signifikansi menggunakan t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan SaT-Mo mampu mengembangkan penguasaan kosakata. Indikator kemampuan menyebutkan kata prasiklus berada pada level cukup meningkat level tinggi, menyebutkan sinonim prasiklus level cukup meningkat level tinggi, mengaplikasikan kata prasiklus level kurang meningkat level tinggi, menyampaikan informasi prasiklus level cukup meningkat level sangat tinggi, menyampaikan konsep meningkat prasiklus level cukup meningkat sangat tinggi, dan ketenangan kelancaran berbicara prasiklus level kurang meningkat level tinggi. Hasil t-test menunjukkan SaT-Mo mampu meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata secara signifikan. Implementasi SaT-Mo modifikasi dapat membantu mahasiswa mengembangkan penguasaan kosakata sehingga mendukung keterampilan mengajar.
