THE EFFECT OF RECIPROCAL QUESTIONING STRATEGY COMBINED WITH NUMBERED HEADS TOGETHER ON READING COMPREHENSION OF THE EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS IN SMP NEGERI 2 SINGARAJA

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk mengetahui keefektifan dari strategi reciprocal questioning yang dikombinasikan dengan numbered heads together pada pemahaman membaca siswa kelas delapan di SMP Negeri 2 Singaraja. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan experiment dengan design post – test. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 2 Singaraja yang dimana populasi dari penelitian ini adalah kelas delapan tahun ajaran 2017/2018 di SMP Negeri 2 Singaraja. Sample dari penelitian ini berjumlah 73 siswa yang diambil menggunakan random sampling. Data dari penelitian ini diambil dengan tes pemahaman membaca yang diberikan kepada siswa dalam bentuk objectives test. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji – T di SPSS 24. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa strategi reciprocal questioning yang dikombinasikan dengan numbered heads together efektif digunakan dalam pemahaman membaca siswa kelas delapan di SMP Negeri 2 Singaraja. Hasil dari uji – T yang dianalisis dengan menggunakan SPSS 24 menunjukan nilai signifikansi 0.027. Nilai tersebut kurang dari 0.05. Dalam uji effect size keefektifan dari strategi reciprocal questioning yang dikombinasikan dengan numbered heads together dikategorikan medium dengan nilai 0.5. Jadi dapat disimpulkan bahwa strategi reciprocal questioning yang dikombinasikan dengan numbered heads together efektif digunakan pada pemahaman membaca siswa kelas delapan yang dikategorikan medium.Kata Kunci : numbered heads together, pemahaman membaca, strategi recirpcal questioning
This study was aimed at investigating whether there is a significant effect of reciprocal questioning strategy combined with numbered heads together on reading comprehension of the eighth grade students in SMP Negeri 2 Singaraja. This study was an experimental study. The design of this study was post – test only control group design. This study was conducted in SMP Negeri 2 Singaraja. The population of this study was the eighth grade students in SMP Negeri 2 Singaraja in academic year 2017/2018 with the sample of 73 students who were selected by using random sampling. The data were collected using reading comprehension test which given to the students in the form of objectives test. The data were analyzed by using independent samples test assisted with SPSS 24. The result showed that there is an effect of reciprocal questioning strategy combined with numbered heads together on reading comprehension of the eighth grade students in SMP Negeri 2 Singaraja. The result of independent samples test shows significant value was 0.027. It did not exceed 0.05. In effect size analysis, the result was 0.5. It is categorized as medium. It means that the effect of reciprocal questioning strategy combined with numbered heads together is categorized as medium.
